WP2

Lead: Irene Wiborg, SEGES, Co‐Lead: Brian Jacobsen, IFRO.

WP2 will facilitate contact with farmers and their organizations, water supply companies, and stakeholders with continuous feedback right from the start of the project. The objective is to disseminate project results fast through cooperation and communication and it seeks to demonstrate the perspectives of rOPEN for the benefit of farmers and for the water environment. WP2 will also identify the economic gains from targeted measures based on detailed mapping of the N‐reduction at field scale received from WP5. This is done through interviews with farmers, followed by individual economic analyses. The new reduction maps (output from WP5) are used in advisory situations in order to identify if they can help farmers or to locate the most efficient measures. The costs of achieving a reduction target based on detailed mapping will be compared to using the Agricultural Package regulation model (ready in 2018) and a non‐targeting approach.

This includes:

  • Cooperation and agreements with farmers and their organizations in pilot areas
  • Testing of catchment based advising
  • Use of improved geological knowledge on farms
  • National dissemination including facilitation of the national advisory board
  • Interviews with farmers on how they will use rOPEN outputs on their farm and how these can be linked to own measurements.
